Regular Continuing Care Visits and Cleanings

These are important for overall oral health. We recommend checkups and cleanings every six months to follow your child’s oral development.

X-rays are an important part of a complete examination. There are many conditions that cannot be diagnosed visibly with a clinical examination. Generally, x-rays are taken once a year unless a specific concern is present. At ABC Dental we have child-friendly techniques of taking x-rays.

Fissure Sealants

These are preventative coatings that are placed in the groves of healthy molars to help protect them from decay. They are regularly done on adult molars, and sometimes recommended for baby molars.

Fluoride Varnish

This is a form of fluoride that is applied to teeth as preventive therapy. This can be used to help prevent decay, remineralise the tooth surface, and to treat dentine hypersensitivity.

Sedation Dentistry

In some cases, your child may be unable to receive dental treatment the conventional way. In these cases, we have the option of doing a conscious sedation. Most children are candidates for an in-office conscious sedation. Please discuss this option with your dental team.

General Anesthetic

For some children, a general anesthetic is the only method of dental treatment. At ABC Dental we have different options available to our patients based on their needs. These Include:

Special Needs Accommodation

Our office is fully handicap-accessible. We will strive to accommodate all patients with special concerns and physical limitations. We aim to make these appointments as easy as possible for patients and caregivers. Please inform a staff member if you have any particular concerns prior to your visit.

Out of Town Patient Accommodation

We understand that some of our patients may have traveled a great distance to see us. We strive to accommodate our out of town patients by booking and completing treatment on back-to-back days (if appropriate). However, during the consultation medical history, current health status, and treatment needed will be discussed. These are all factors that determine whether or not a sedation would be appropriate for your child. For the safety of your child, it is very important that you inform our staff of all medical issues concerning your child. Please ask our receptionists about special room rates at our local hotels.
